Another day, another swag catalog
You know it's a good day and a frustrating day when the latest American Science & Surplus catalog arrives in the mail. It's good because this catalog is particularly packed with stuff I could actually use. I need a new camera tripod, a styrofoam knife, and a solar-powered fountain pump, and don't try to convince me otherwise. It's a frustrating day because my normal sources of disposable income have dried up, I don't have another plant show until at least December, and everyone kinda frowns on my selling government secrets to the Daleks. Even so, anyone up for entering a particularly appropriate AS&S item at the FAIL Blog?

I live for my AS&S catalog.

You and I both, kiddo. [info]bob909 and [info]anditron live just a short distance away from the AS&S warehouse and retail outlet, and I keep thinking that it's high time to head up there and visit them. My lineage won't have seen that much carnage since my Viking ancestors staged their first raids on the England/Scotland border a thousand years ago.

Does it make me rather strange that the styrofoam knife just gave me a Home Improvement moment?

Not at all. I can't watch Home Improvement without having flashbacks of my father's various projects, and I'm fairly certain that most of the "Handyman's Corner" segments on The Red Green Show were originally tested for safety and effectiveness by my grandfather. At this point, I expect my nephews and nieces will have the same memories of me upon watching reruns of The Young Ones.

So which one were you? Vyvyan? Rik?

It's only a few blocks away from me too. God, I love that place.
