As I look over a growing space full of Sarracenia that have gone dormant from the heat (as of the moment I write this, it's 39 degrees C outside, and I'm bicycling home in it), and the Nepenthes that are luxuriating in 44-degree heat in the greenhouse, I can't wait until September. Part of it is that I look forward to weather where the handlebar grips on my bike don't melt and stick to my bicycle gloves. The other is because the upcoming FenCon VI is eight weeks away, and I haven't done a show in a while. If you have any plans to come out to Dallas this year, now's the time: the hotel is spacious and well-cooled, the outside temperatures aren't going to be too outrageous, and we have plenty of interesting restaurants within walking distance. Oh, and lots and lots of plants, if I have any say in the matter.
